Chaliha had a difficult start to the final after losing the opening game 14-21. However, the Indian player responded strongly in the second game.

She took an 11-8 lead at the interval and continued to control the rallies before winning the second game 21-14 and forcing a deciding game.

The final game was closely contested in the early stages, with Han leading 11-9 at the mid-game interval. Chaliha then raised her intensity, produced accurate winners and took control of the match.

She moved ahead 15-11 and later reached 19-14 before closing out the match 21-14.

A Historic Achievement for Indian Badminton

The Korea Masters victory is Chaliha’s first BWF World Tour crown.

With the win, she also became only the fifth Indian woman to win a BWF World Tour Super 300 or higher-level singles title, joining Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu, Devika Sihag and Tanvi Sharma.

The victory is particularly significant for Assam, as Chaliha has emerged as one of the state’s leading badminton stars on the international stage.
